The Potash Business Unit is establishing a Full Potential Office (FPO), with the mandate to oversee, support and accelerate the delivery of transformation initiatives that will strengthen the Potash BU's operational excellence and introduce innovative new digital solutions.

The FPO will comprise of three groups:
  • A Central Program Management Office (PMO) to oversee results delivery across program initiatives and manage program risks
  • A digital program team to develop the BU's digital strategy and drive execution of new digital solutions
  • A capability Centre of Excellence (COE) to support program initiatives with critical capabilities
  • This role will report to the Senior Manager, Centre of Excellence.

The Transformation Specialist will be part of a group of experts in the Centre of Excellence to be deployed to specific sites to help launch and/or transformation initiatives and priorities.

What you will do:
  • Conduct end-to-end analysis of various types of data (e.g., tonnage mined, tonnage hoisted, cutting delays, cycle times, equipment productivity, etc.) ranging from data collection, to data cleaning, and data analysis to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in the mining and milling processes
  • Drive conversations with Superintendents, General Foreman, and other key internal stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of process drivers to inform opportunity identification and value prioritization
  • Determine the right stakeholders to engage at the various points of the transformation process (e.g., diagnosis, ideation, prioritization, etc.)
  • Size the estimated value of different opportunities through combining analytic insights with interviews and discussions with the appropriate individuals on each expertise area
  • Prepare key insights from analytics (e.g., key value opportunities, proposed solutions) to share at working sessions in order to pressure test assumptions and validate analysis
  • Attend and facilitate discussion across teams during mining team working sessions to enable brainstorming of solutions for identified opportunities and knowledge sharing across different expertise areas
  • Develop materials to facilitate and frame the appropriate discussions during the mining team working sessions
  • Track performance against fore-casted targets to identify the initiatives at risk and determine methods to ensure that the site is on track to reach the targets
  • Codify best practices and learnings from different sites to share with the Centre of Excellence to help refine the transformation approach
  • Support the training and on-boarding of other Transformation Specialists as needed
  • Report to Senior Manager, Centre of Excellence, while accountable to initiative leads and teams to reach transformation (Full Potential program) targets

What you will bring:
  • 6-8 years of experience in process optimization, with knowledge of mining and milling processes
  • Strong facilitation skills, able to manage and coordinate discussion across diverse stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel to develop models to run data analysis
  • Goal oriented and flexible with proven track record in collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Track record of successful execution of results in a team setting
  • Strong communication skills with ability to process and explain complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions
